Thank you Mother West Wind !!
Lake Erie Long Beach
6.0-6.6 conditions at Long Beach today. Got down there before noon and found some good wind from the WSW at around 18-20 knots. Checked out the launches at SR26 and SR28 and decided to launch from 26 as there was a bit of a wind shadow close to the beach at 28. It was great to see Chris and Kee show up also and we all hit the water around 12:30.
At first, the wind was steady WSW with lots of 2-4 ft onshore waves. After ~45 minutes, and a sustained lull, the wind kicked in again with some good punch after switching more westerly. By 2 pm the sun was out and the wind was steady again but from the new direction. Incredible!! Many steep ramps on starboard outbound and some good smooth sections for the inside gybes. Certainly not epic but still lots of fun. All in all, another fine afternoon of sailing at this beautiful beach. Where to when the wind turns NW? Come on November!! Hey underpants, can you get out this weekend?
