Holy fark!
Lake Ontario Mac's
That was incredible. Best session of the year for me hands down. I'll have to fill in some details later but lets just say that Mac's was going off. I had plenty of fun already in the solid 4.7 up near West point from about 1-2:30pm, but then it starting picking up to maxed 3.7 and fun waves right in front of the launch. This was down-the-line madness. In the first 1.5hrs on 4.7, I shit you not, numerous rides with 6-10 turns. Then I did the downwinder. One wave, must've hit that bitch about 20-25 times, riding all the way from the pocket down to Mac's, probably 500m downwind on a single wave. Nearly creamed my wetsuit on that one. Once it picked up, I never got back up to the pocket, but stayed near the launch, tired already. Still, plenty of frontside riding to be had with 4-6 hits common at Mac's.
The new Quad LS? OMG don't get me started. What a beast! Sailed that thing from the 25kts in the beginning through the 35 gusting 40 near the end, was perfect the whole time. I love this thing. If anyone has ever had any doubts about a quad, don't doubt they are good for here! I've now sailed the Quad LS in 5.3 down to 3.7, and it rips that whole range, never feels too small, never feels too big.... and it trucks it upwind - up to the pocket in two long tacks (500m upwind at least), and it loves to turn on those waves. Funny enough, I had a hard time just doing plain jibes with the thing... but any kind of turn on the wave was like butter.
OK, better go hang out with the fam a bit. Thanks to everyone there for making it a great day with great vibes.
If anyone is interested in a Quatro, let me know I might be able to help you.
