Wow!!

Ramsey Lake Sudbury Canoe Club

It has been windy and cold for the past two days with a gusty wind out of the north.

Today that all changed.

The wind was a little less strong but more steady and form the south west.

The wind was still gusty but warmer and much more steady.

The water is cold ~8C and the air, though above 0C, was still cool.

There were some nice ramps on the lake and was able to pull off a few jumps...but it was difficult to jump as my feet were numb.

I was completely overpowered with the 6.5 so I came in and tried the 5.5 (this is one of the real advantages to sailing at the club-I can change sails at the drop of a hat). I had one good run but felt underpowered so I flattened out the 6.5.

Once that was done I had much better control in the gusts and still maintained great speed.

Progress:

No real progress I was too chicken of falling in the water so I was ultra conservative. (I was the only on the water -there was another member doing maintenance around the club (and keeping an eye on me) but I was alone on the water)

-I had one really nice jump...my best on Lake Ramsey.

All told it was a pretty good day.

Weather Conditions

The best I have ever seen on this lake...still a bit gusty
