Postby Woody CAN757 » Sat Apr 03, 2010 1:45 pm

Friends!

Northwest Ontario Windsurfing Club along with the City of Dryden will be your hosts for the 2010 CMWA Canadian Windsurfing Championships this summer. This event will run from Aug 5-8 with competition taking place from the 6th-8th. With a beautiful overlooking view of Wabigoon Lake, Sandy Beach Park provides perfect viewing opportunities. There will be bleachers set up for spectators along with a PA system for announcements of the action taking place on the water. Windsurfers can expect to see large crowds as the regatta will be wrapping up a week of celebrations for the City’s Centennial Birthday!
Other park highlights include children’s playground equipment, large grassy park for pets, walking trails, beautiful lake side golf course & restaurant right beside the event site, fireworks, live bands, parties, beer tent, food vendors & more! Along with racing for individual titles we have added a CAN-AM Team Challenge with $2010.00 being awarded to the top 5 sailors from the winning team! Yes Chris, all of what you mentioned. The wind will ultimately dictate the dicipline.

Thanks for the interest!

last summer in dryden we did three figure 8 races many used slalom equipment for the races some used courseboards.
the next day we had a long distance and three triangle races.
the wind was crazy! had to be gusting into the mid 30's easy many gusts flattened the fleet.
fun times any way you look at it.
the event site is nice and easy to rig up at and a great venue to ahve races.
Many people here in thunder bay are going, probably about ten or so ,some with equipment for any situation some just with shortboards, the intent just to meet people and have fun!!
so wherever you are from make the trip, its always great to meet others with the same passion see you there !!!
