just saw this on yahoo news. If the video does not come up, scroll down a little and you should see it there. It's a fatal shark attack on a kiteboarder http://news.yahoo.com/video/us-15749625 ... o=17970566

I think that he might be the one windsurfer I would not like.

Tragic about the Kitesurfer.
I have wind/surfed in FL and I always think about sharks. But as the News said attacks are rare, deaths are rarer (in most cases it is because the person id alone and either drowns or bleeds to death). I have never heard of a multiple shark attack in FL...weird.

As far as that other windsurfer goes...I think he is just trying to be cool. Spinner sharks are not dangerous (most are not unless provoked) and do not attack people (we are too big -I would like being attacked by a salmon -it is possible but not likely)...mind you, I would not go near any shark while it is feeding...STUPID.

My two cents.

Not to sure where you catch your Salmon.... I am sure they are harmless but still I wouldn't be caught dead sailing around with these big things...

Not unless provoked.........Meaning 42cm fin to the back of the head do you think that would do it...

Spinner Shark
Their average length is approximately 195 cm at a weight of 56 kg. The longest spinner shark found to date measured 278 cm.

Good point WindJunky...I had no idea they got so large (and you are right about the fin).
But on the fact sheet it does mention that there are no known human attacks.
The vast majority of sharks are harmless to people.

I Have to say that knowing this doesn't stop me from freaking out every time I see one.

I know that these sharks are harmless (as this guy obviously does) but emotionally I am not there yet.
All I can think of when I see a shark is "Jaws".

My point is that this guys is in no danger and knows it...I am not sure what that says about him and his video.
